Benchmark of the European shaking tables testing procedures (TASK 1).

Objectives:

The research objectives were:

1. To test the large-scale model designed by the 3 partners and constructed in France. Two non-linear energy-absorbing devices will be used, together with a variety of inputs.

2. To carry out corroborating analyses of these tests, comparing linear with nonlinear behaviour.

3. To investigate what effect these results may have on Design Costs, particularly EC8.

4. To transfer the model to LNEC Lisbon and LEE Athens for the same series of tests. NB: LEE Athens has replaced EERC Bristol because of the re-building of the latter’s laboratory.
