Designation:
Rocking
motion and impact of historical
constructions (UG4).
User Group
Leader:
Professor Pere Roca Fabregat
(Polytechnic University of
Catalonia, Spain)
Objectives:
The experiments aim
at the following objectives:
-
The first
objective is to contribute
to a better knowledge of
historical masonry
constructions subjected to
earthquake loading;
-
The
second objective is to allow
the calibration and
verification of the
analytical tools that can be
used to simulate the
non-linear dynamics involved
in the seismic analysis of
historical constructions.
Once this is achieved, the
usage of structural
component models and
increasing complex dynamic
loading will lead to safer
and more economical
modifications in such
constructions;
-
Finally,
the third objective is to
use numerical tools,
including the necessary
developments to reproduce
the experimental behaviour
observed, for a parametric
study aiming at providing
guidelines for
practitioners.
