structural walls in low to moderate
seismicity areas (UG2).

Objectives:
Shaking table test is
foreseen to evaluate seismic performance
of lightly reinforced structural walls
in low to moderate seismicity areas.
Buildings with RC walls of this type
have been built throughout Europe,
housing millions of people. However, the
research has been rather limited and
restricted to in plane behaviour of
cantilever walls. Therefore it is still
not clear enough to what extent and
under what circumstances we can rely on
the overstrength and other sources
reducing the demand in RC walls. The aim
of the proposed research is therefore:
(a) To extend the research to lightly
reinforced structural walls, typically
used in Central Europe; (b) To
investigate the influence of
simultaneous 3D loading conditions; (c
To address walls with T (H)
cross-sections; (d) To investigate the
free edge of T (H) shaped walls in
compression; (e) To investigate the
behaviour of coupled walls; (f) To
evaluate the behaviour of coupling beams
in thin walls; (g) To calibrate and
further develop numerical models.
