Seismic behaviour of masonry housing in low seismicity areas (UG1).

Objectives:

Four full-scale, two-storey high, single and double-walled, brick masonry structures will be tested on shaking table:

1. Unreinforced masonry- Northern Europe type; prefab slab floor elements, timber floor

2. Unreinforced masonry- Southern Europe type; cast in place floor

3. Masonry of Northern Europe type with additional constructional details, with reinforcements in horizontal joints of walls and ties between floors and walls

4. Masonry of Southern Europe type with additional constructional details, with local vertical and horizontal reinforcements in joints of walls.

The objectives of the project are to validate numerical modellings, to test the effectiveness of reinforcing solutions and finally to qualify design rules for masonry structures in low seismicity areas.
