Objectives
The main objective of this Project was the study and the adoption of methodologies in the mitigation of the occurrence of internal expansive reactions (IER) in concrete using natural and industrial pozzolanic materials of national origin. This project includes:
1. Survey, selection and characterization of mineral and industrial by products;
2. Improvement of methodologies for the diagnosis and prognosis of IER;
3. Selection and characterization of aggregates and cement types for the concrete formulations;
4. Experimental study for the definition of the mechanisms and minimum levels of mineral admixtures in the IER inhibition;
5. Development and validation of models based in the reaction kinetics;
6. Elaboration of guides and recommendations for the diagnosis, prognosis and mitigation of IER in the concrete;
7. Creation of a WEB site for technical and educational information in this field with the results obtained in the Project;
8. Organization of a seminar for presentation of the Project results with the participation of national and international researchers.
